Dirty Love

A few years ago I spent a lot of time download every Frank Zappa live video I could find in the depths of the internet, and later burned them on a DVD to store them – and forgot wher I put that. Anyway, I couldn’t get a complete version of the Dirty Love Tribute, played by Dweezil Zappa, Mike Keneally and Steve Vai. Good thing is: You Tube has it. Enjoy:

I still love this version and still wonder who’s playing the bass there – even with three guitars in focus, the song would be boring without the great bass fundamentals.

If you don’t know the original, you really should give Strictly Commcercial a try – packed with rather easy-listening songs, compared to stuff like Lumpy Grave…

  1. The bass player, according to my Zappa’s Universe disc cover, was Scott Thunes.

Scott was Frank’s favorite bass player, and, you’ll recall, the reason why the 1988 band went into rebellion or whatever that was.

  2. Thanks for the great FZ vid, Jorn! I came looking for your excellent jquery tooltip, and found this … Fantastic.

I believe this is from “Zappa’s Universe”. If so, the bassist is Scott Thunes.

That reminds me, Zappa Plays Zappa is coming soon to a venue near me!

    Thanks again, Jorn!

  3. Hey, Kevin, you’ve got an interesting blog there. For now I’ll concentrate on the pictures 🙂

I guess I need to get Zappa Universe, too.
